Alexa Adamo Valverde is a trauma-informed, healing-centered mental health professional that provides narrative play therapy for individuals - adolescents, teens,  families, and adults who've experienced trauma, whether child abuse, partner violence, community violence, poverty, infertility, or perinatal loss.

Alexa's goal is to help you (or your child or family) feel heard, connected and supported. Using narrative practice, Alexa will offer questions and tools to help you examine the dominant stories of your life, explore what makes you you - your unique skills and assets, and discover what brings you most joy.  Through conversation, play, stories, expressive arts, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness activities, Alexa will meet you where you are, help you understand your responses to trauma, notice and strengthen your coping skills and resilience, and build new tools to gain confidence, connect to your passion, and thrive.

Alexa brings a healing-centered, intersectional lens to all that she does.  She believes in addressing human suffering and healing at the individual, community, and systemic levels.  For 20 years Alexa worked for social justice as a nonprofit leader, fundraiser, researcher, and community advocate and then added a degree in clinical mental health counseling to support individuals, families and groups heal from systemic oppression.

Alexa is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) in North Carolina.  She continues as a nonprofit consultant to support system level change as well.
