A narrative, trauma-informed, healing-centered approach to therapy means I utilize transparency and collaboration to support you to process your here-and-now responses to trauma and help you connect with all that you are separate from your experiences of trauma. Your story, your voice, your choices, and your responses to trauma are valued, respected, and yours. You are the expert in your life. I will support you to notice how trauma has, or has not, settled in your body and how it impacts, or does not impact, your response to everyday life events. Your response to trauma is a coping mechanism, but it is not the entirety of your story.
Your life story and values are impacted by your life experiences and the familial, community, cultural, and social contexts of your life. I hope to partner with you to help you identify your strengths and the unique skills and knowledge you developed in response to trauma, and that you developed despite the trauma. The thickening of your alternate narratives and the authoring of your preferred narrative is lifted up as a pathway for you to achieve your dreams and to experience peace, joy, abundance, and healing.
